FOOD AND BEVERAGE COORDINATOR

Parks, Recreation & Facilities Department - Deadline Extended Full-Time, 37.5 hours/week (flexible schedule that includes nights and weekends).  The City of Portland, Maine seeks a dynamic, experienced leader with the overseeing of the food and beverage operation at the Portland Exposition Building, Merrill Auditorium, Fitzpatrick Stadium, City Hall and The Troubh Ice Arena for the Department of Parks, Recreation & Facilities.  This is a working supervisory position that supervises employees engaged in the food and beverage operations at multiple City facilities, coordinates the food service requirements of these facilities and participates in the work as required.  Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Participates in food and beverage duties as required including cooking, cleaning, inventory, deliveries, selling of food, beverages and alcoholic beverages and is responsible for the balancing of large amounts of cash at the end of each event, or assisting Shift Leaders in cashing out as well as making necessary deposits.  Assists in inventorying, ordering and receiving product for all the PAFD food and beverage locations.  Ensures that sanitation of all concession stands is in compliance with City and State health codes and National Restaurant Association serve-safe standards.  Assists with rotating product in each stand to make sure items stay fresh and the current product is being used first.  Oversees or participates in pre-event meetings with concession staff to review event expectations and special instructions for concession sales as specified by the Food & Beverage Manager.  Maintains good working relationships with Prime Tenants and other users of the facilities.  Requirements of Work: Considerable hands-on experience in Food & Beverage Operations at a public venue.  Experience or training in menu development and/or product pricing and thorough knowledge of the standard tools, materials, methods and practices used in Food & Beverage Service industry operations.  Thorough knowledge of food service sanitation requirements by the City of Portland and State of Maine Ordinances as well as national standards and working knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work.  Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including long shifts, nights and weekends, as required.  Experience and Training Desired: Leadership and Supervisory Development and prior leadership experience at a public venue that is similar to multiple operations within the city.  Prior experience in concession menu development and product pricing and prior experience managing large amounts of cash.  Prior experience scheduling staff at multiple facilities or locations.  Experience working with a diverse population.  Necessary Special Requirements: Must possess a valid Class C driver's license and have a good driving record.  Offers of employment are contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory criminal background check.  TIPS Train-the-Trainer certification or the ability to be certified within 3 months of hire.  Serv Safe certification or the ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.  Pay range starting at $795.75/week ($21.22/hour).
