Temporary Facilities Maintenance Worker (4 Positions) Campus: Presque Isle Department: Physical Plant Operations – IPHY Location: Presque Isle, ME Bargaining Unit: Temp Salary Band/Wage Band: A11, Step 2 Work Schedule: Varies Length: Other Statement of the Job: 4 POSITIONS AVAILABLE The University of Maine at Presque Isle is seeking Temporary Facilities Maintenance Workers. This is a full-time, temporary position that will be 40 hours per week, 5 days per week through the end of September, with the possibility of continued employment. Daily work schedule is 7:00 am – 3:30 pm. This position pays $12.75/hour. Primary duty is to assist with office moves. Employee may also complete routine and non-routine cleaning services, such as, but not limited to, those below. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

+ Performs (heavy) lifting in the removal of trash, moving furniture, boxes and equipment.

+ Employee operates cleaning equipment, uses cleaning chemicals and materials

+ Shovels snow from building entrances and walkways.

+ May pick up litter within several feet of building.

+ Cleans fixtures, furnishings and facilities in and around campus buildings.

+ Works alone or in groups.

+ Climbs ladders up to 12 feet to perform necessary work.

+ Adheres to safety procedures, including reporting mechanical and/or safety issues.

Qualifications: Requirements:

+ High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).

+ Must be able to climb stairs, work with arms overhead.

+ Must be able to lift 50 lbs. repeatively.

+ Must be able to work in all weather conditions.


+ Related cleaning experience

+ Employee must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.

+ Employee must have good communication skills.

+ Be able to work independently.

+ Experience using commercial cleaning equipment, also a plus.
