As a Finance Director you can expect:

In this role, you will be a key member of the Alight Controllership team reporting to the Deputy Controller and working closely with Business Finance, FP&A, Operations, Order-to-Cash and other key business partners. This position will manage and participate in efforts to collect, process, and reconcile data as well as perform complex analysis for the business.


This role aligns to our Lincolnshire, IL headquarters location and will work closely with colleagues worldwide. Remote work arrangement will be considered for a highly qualified candidate.


Direct responsibility for a small team of accounting professionals and indirect responsibility and oversight for accounting functions performed offshore.


Work with other areas of the company to understand and interpret data. Follow up with other practices or individuals to ensure that data is accurate and complete. Frequent interaction with functional areas such as Business Finance, FP&A, Treasury, Order-to-Cash, IT, Operations and Human Resources.


Responsible for assisting with/leading the monthly accounting close process in accordance with public company filing deadlines, playing a key role in monthly, quarterly and annual close activities and preparation of financial statements


Review and approve journal entries and account balance reconciliations prepared by other team members.


Manage and support general accounting and global cross-team projects, such as balance sheet reviews, cash flow forecast, consolidations and intercompany accounting, acquisition accounting and integration.


Partner with Human Resources and oversee accounting for employee compensation, benefits and payroll taxes.


Ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with US GAAP and Alight policies and procedures,


Ensure applicable processes and controls are in designed and operating effectively to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley.


Participate and support interim, quarterly, and annual internal and external audits to ensure timely and successful completion.




Bachelor's degree in Accounting


CPA highly preferred


7+ years previous accounting experience (Big 4, public company and/or service industry preferred).


Knowledge of Workday Financials a plus


Proficient in MS Excel including VLOOKUP, if functions, pivot tables, etc. and competent in Word and PowerPoint


Strong knowledge of US GAAP and ability to analyze and resolve moderately complex technical accounting issues. Basic knowledge of ASC 606 revenue standard and ASC 842 lease standard preferred.
