The University of Southern Maine (USM) is seeking an Administrative Specialist to work part-time, 20-hours per week.  This is a grant funded position of within the Maine Campus Compact and is located on the Lewiston/Auburn Campus.  This position will pay $15.99/hour (non-negotiable).

Maine Campus Compact (MCC), a project of USM, is a statewide coalition of 17 college and university presidents established to support the civic mission of higher education.  MCC encourages campus/community partnerships that build on the strengths of communities and higher education institutions to address significant social problems.  MCC is affiliated with the national Campus Compact network of 34 state Compacts, over 1,200 campuses, and a national office.

The Administrative Specialist will perform diverse tasks requiring knowledge and skills in a variety of areas such as grants management, accounting and administrative support, funder and university communications, personnel support, program and operations support, and oversight of department policies and procedures. This position will manage daily, weekly and monthly project matters, which can involve interpretation of University and departmental policy. The ideal candidate will have experience with financial oversight and program support, strong attention to detail as well as an ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adjust to organizational needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • 60 credits or more of higher education or equivalent work experience and training.
  • Three years administrative or project support or comparable experience.
  • Skilled in basic software programs, such as Microsoft Word and Excel, but not limited to those listed here.
