The Registered Dietitian/Manager of Hospital & Community Nutrition Services works with the Director in planning, organizing, developing and directing the overall operation of Food and Nutrition Services. Participates in patient consultation and MNT. Participates in provision of nutrition services to both inpatients and outpatients. Develops menus and oversees the handling, preparation and storage of food. Oversees equipment maintenance, record keeping and all sanitation activities. Manages the operation of the Food Pantry, including ordering, storage, and inventory of stock and counseling of clients. Coordinates the operation of the Food Pantry and counseling of clients. Responsible for hiring and evaluation of kitchen, pantry staff and volunteers.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Education: Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a related field required. Master's degree preferred.
License/Certification: Active Maine Registered Dietitian licensure.
Experience: One to two years' demonstrated leadership competence of equivalent combination of education and experience.
Excellent knowledge of nutrition principles and diet therapy in order to accurately assess patients' medical and nutritional status and to formulate care plans.
Ability to mentor and empower staff; to set the climate on each shift for cooperation and teamwork.
Self-directed and self-motivated with firm understanding of leadership role. Skill in time management, problem-solving, multitasking, prioritizing and nutritional care coordination.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills necessary for interacting with patients and other members of the health care team, with the ability to create strong partnerships; serves as a role model through professional behavior and open, direct communication.
Ability to maintain professional manner even under stressful situations.
Proficient computer and presentation skills.
