Assistant to the owner needed. Initial duties include making beds, replenishing linens, cleaning rooms and halls, and vacuuming. This portion of the role will take average about 6-7 hours a week during busy season. This is critical to learning how the business operates at its most basic level.
The rest of the position will involve helping the owner to run both the event center and the Inn business. For the Inn, this involves taking reservations on the phone and being able to talk to potential guests to get them in the room that makes sense and upsell when possible. It will also involve greeting guests, checking them in, and being able to resolve guest issues. You will never be expected to do anything that the owner wouldn't do - but be warned that the owner does clean rooms, scrub floors, and does mountains of laundry including the ironing.
For the Event Center, you will be learning and using our CRM system to manage venue inquiries, scheduling, and providing tours. The better you are at your job, the more you can make some of the tasks you don't enjoy - like housekeeping go away by helping to grow the business so much that another PT housekeeper can be hired.
While the obvious busy season for both of our businesses is April through mid November, even our slow season is busy. During the slow months we have improvement projects and that is also the time of year that we are busiest with wedding inquiries.
If you are interested in learning the business from the ground up for how to run an inn or event center, this might be the job for you.
