The Office of Employee Health & Wellness Workers’ Compensation is responsible for the overall management of the State’s self-insured workers’ compensation program. Through comprehensive partnerships and initiatives, we assist in the prevention of workplace injuries and provide the necessary services such as medical care and compensation to injured State of Maine employees.
This is position provides support to a fast-paced office working in receiving, retrieving, processing, tracking, and maintaining records on workers’ compensation claims. This is done primarily by entering collected data/information system. Work is performed under limited supervision.
+ Reviews bills; authorizes payments; enters bill information into the Workers’ Compensation database system in order to pay the bills.
+ Provide administrative support
+ Resolves complex billing issues
+ Auditing payments and receipts
+ Organizes and maintains office-wide filing system
+ Provide financial information to individuals/groups
+ Maintain the office reporting schedule
+ Conducts research utilizing various computer data bases, manuals and case files in order to respond to questions, resolve problems, make decisions or provide needed information.
+ Receives payments and returned checks; researches reason for payment or return; corrects errors in the Workers’ Compensation database system and/or prepares deposit in order to ensure accurate payment of bills and receipt of funds.
Education, training, and/or experience which provides a basic knowledge and understanding of human resource functions. Preference will be given to those applicants with experience in worker’s compensation administration.
