The Peer Navigator works as a member of a team of professionals who provide treatment and services to people who use mental health and co-occurring substance abuse services in the community.
The Peer Navigator contributes to the Agency s mission to assist individuals with recovery from psychiatric and substance use difficulties through the provision of a wide range of non-clinical activities that engage, educate, and support individuals, their family members and caregivers.
The Peer Navigator provides recovery training and outreach to peers in both group and individual settings while demonstrating the values of hopefulness for recovery, respect, acceptance, personal responsibility, honesty, and self-advocacy to both peers and colleagues. For the purposes of this job description peer is defined as an individual who has lived experience.
Must have personally experienced mental Illness or substance use disorder.
