________________________________________________________________________SUMMARY: Maintains grounds and turf of golf course in playing condition as directed by Grounds Superintendent by performing the following duties. All associates are expected to promote and uphold the Samoset Standards of Excellence; Smile, Assume responsibility, Maintain a well groomed, professional appearance, Own every guest inquiry, Speak in a professional manner, Exceed guests’ expectations and Take pride in your work and in the resort.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Operates mowers and string trimmers in trimming greens, aprons, tees, fence lines, banks and hillsides; edges cart paths; rakes and maintains sand bunkers; sets tee markers and cups on greens daily; maintains ball washers; replaces tee towels and flags when needed; and removes debris and cleans flower beds.
Assists in construction of new greens, tees and fairways; grades and prepares soil base; lays sod; and seeds tees, greens and fairways.
Installs forms and lays walks and paths using gravel and asphalt mixes; excavates and backfills ditches and trenches with hand tools; repairs and replaces pipe on irrigation systems.
Maintains fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment on a daily basis; reports equipment problems to Supervisor immediately; returns all equipment to the designated location; and cleans the maintenance areas.
Operates mowers, dump trucks and/or other light equipment as needed.
Understands the proper method in which to operate an assigned piece of equipment in a safe and responsible manner and in accordance with the standards of safety as set forth in the company’s safety policy manual.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups associates of organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid driver’s license required.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Working knowledge of methods and materials needed for landscape construction/maintenance and use of hand and power tools required. Ability to operate tractors, trucks and light motorized equipment.

The associate must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The associate may frequently need to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions. The associate is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration.
