POSITION SUMMARY
The CNA will assist the medical staff in providing medical care to patients of various ages according in accordance with nursing professional standards and KVHC policies and procedures. The person in this role will function under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and/or the Provider. The CNA will work as part of the Clinical Care Team to insure effective and quality care is given to the KVHC patient.

RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assists the Care Team with intake process of the patient. Completes vital signs, height, weight and documents these in the electronic health record.
2. Assists with tests such as EKG, spirometry, pap and pelvic physicals, as directed by the Provider or other member of the Care team, i.e. MA, LPN, RN.
3. Informs patient of intake process and answers questions related to that day’s visit.
4. Performs in house labs as needed.
5. Monitors provider and provider task buckets for duties that require completion.
6. Maintains the exam rooms, bathrooms, and corridors in good order.
7. Insures that examining rooms, bathrooms and corridors are stocked and/or in good order.
8. Perform other duties, as assigned by the Nurse Manager.
9. Instruct patient in the proper collection of laboratory specimens.
10. Obtain signatures for appropriate medical releases.
11. Clean and sterilize equipment after use.
12. Maintain in good order the stock of patient information materials.
13. Assist in ordering medical supplies.
14. Cooperate with other health agencies.
15. Promote good health i.e. Yearly exams, colonoscopies, mammograms.
16. Must be neat, clean and professional in demeanor at all times with appropriate dress.
17. Readily accepts responsibility of patient care with team cooperation.
18. Support of clinic specific standards, supports KVHC policy/procedures/standards.
19. Possess computer skills.
20. Cross train to back fill the optometric technician and optician positions as needed to cover vacation and other time off.
21. Participates in physician, team and staff education and training for integrated care; continuing education about integration and evidence-based practice is routinely completed to maintain knowledge and skills.
22. Performs additional duties or projects as assigned by the Nursing Director.
23. Adheres to all KVHC policies and protocols.
24. Complies with all safety rules and protocols. Reports all incidents, regardless of severity, immediately to their supervisor and completes an incident report and investigation form, which will be forwarded to Human Resources within 24 hours of the incident.
25. Conducts themselves as a good steward in the communities served by KVHC; represents the organization at outreach activities as needed.
26. Actively participates as committee member as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.
27. Interacts harmoniously and effectively with others. Focusing on the attainment of organization goals and objectives through a commitment to team work.
28. Conforms to acceptable attendance and punctuality standards as expressed in the employee handbook.
29. Abides by the organization’s compliance program and requirements

31. The employee may be responsible for traveling to multiple locations as specified in their job offer and/or contract.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
1.High School Diploma or a combination of education and experience.
2.Certified with the State of Maine Board of Nursing.
3.Must possess current CPR certification.
4.Must be possess the ability to work independently in a team setting and react to change productively.
5.Must possess excellent problem solving and interpersonal skills.
6.Must be able to work in a high pressure, health center environment.
7.Must possess the ability to learn and comply with all safety rules.
8.Must possess a clean criminal and DHHS background.
9.Must possess the ability and means to travel between clinics as needed.
10. Valid State of Maine Driver’s license and ability to be insured by KVHC’s vehicle insurance carrier.

FUNCTION, DEMANDS AND PHYSICAL PERFORMANCE
Requires full range of body motion with the ability to bend, kneel and stoop. Must possess: the ability to sit and or stand for long periods of time, the ability to lift approximately 30 lbs., visual acuity with color vision, the ability to communicate effectively and calmly in a professional manner, the ability to follow all workplace policies including safety and confidentiality, the ability to perform repetitive motion keyboarding functions, exposure to communicable disease, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to clinic environment. Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations, and procedures to administer patient care. Must possess the ability to work with and around medical equipment and instruments safely and effectively as appropriate. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment including Safety Data Sheets. Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence. Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public. Ability to maintain quality control standards. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergencies. Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures. Ability to communicate clearly.
