Job Description


The firm of Lake & Denison, LLC is located in downtown Winthrop just minutes away from Maranacook Lake. Our office is team driven and open to new ideas. The ideal candidate would enjoy working in a collaborative environment and be willing to take on a variety of tasks day to day.

Applicant must have strong analytical and interpersonal skills, be self-motivated and responsive to priorities. The ideal candidate should also be attentive to detail, possess excellent communication skills (oral and written), and work effectively alone and as a member of a team. Prior experience with respect to the duties noted above is preferred.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Conduct title research online and at various Registries of Deeds
  • Prepare title insurance commitment, policies, endorsements, and affidavits
  • Prepare deeds and other ancillary documents required to transfer property
  • Prepare for and participate in real estate closings
  • Record documents electronically and in-person
  • Handle other post-closing matters
  • Prepare, proofread, and edit pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and demand letters
  • Participate in trial and hearing preparation
  • Maintain attorney schedules with meticulous attention to court imposed deadlines
  • Strict adherence to attorney ethical guidelines and maintenance of confidentiality with respect to firm clients and firm business operations
  • Typing, editing, copying
  • Organizing and preparing documents
  • Drafting of work product such as letters, agreements, real estate closing documents and other legal documents
  • Initiating and responding to telephone calls, handling mail, drafting responses to correspondence
  • Checking for conflicts, opening new matters, creating and maintaining standardized case files
  • Work product and conduct consistent with firm values, policies and procedures
  • Using the following computer programs: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Clio, etc.)
  • Various office support tasks such as filing, assisting with time-sensitive projects in order to meet deadlines, general telephone coverage, office appearance
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications Summary

  • A high-school diploma or equivalent is required
  • An advanced degree or formal education or certification in legal, paralegal, or related studies, is preferred
  • High degree of accuracy and thoroughness in work product
  • Good written, oral communication, proofreading and interpersonal skills
  • Strong English language skills
  • Skilled in the use of modern office equipment and computer technology
  • Demonstrated ability to handle work efficiently and confidentially
  • Ability to be productive in a fast-paced environment and to work under pressure
  • Timeliness and ability to meet deadlines
  • Temperament conducive to collaborative team work and work with employees at all levels
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and Clio (or other equivalent time-keeping software)
  • Ability to follow instructions and to ask questions when instructions are unclear.

Salary Range

  • $20/hr - $22/hr

Work Location: One location. In person.  Possible intermittent remote work.
