Who we Are:

The Iris Network is a Maine non-profit dedicated to helping people with vision impairments gain and maintain independence as well as community integration.

Pay: $60,000-75,000

Benefits: 27 days of paid time off, 13 holidays, health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, AD&D, life insurance, short-term disability, and long-term disability.

Director of Development is responsible for overseeing the Development Department and ensuring mission critical activities are completed to support the agency’s financial needs. This includes sourcing and writing grants, compliance activities, and meeting with major donors.

  • Lead major department activities such as donor relations, grant writing, event coordination, website and social media posting, etc.;
  • Oversee donor database (DonorPerfect) to ensure maintenance, updates, and reports on donor activity;
  • Conduct research to identify the goals, net worth, charitable donation history, or other data related to potential donors, potential investors, or general donor markets;
  • Develop fundraising activity plans that maximize participation or contributions and minimize costs;
  • Write interesting and effective press releases, social media stories, prepare information for media kits, and develop and maintain agency internet Web pages;
  • Develop and maintain the agency’s corporate image and identity, which includes the use of logos and signage;
  • Manage special events, such as sponsorship of races or other activities the agency supports, to gain public attention through the media without advertising directly;
  • Oversee communications and ensure process of full cycle donor management relations is completed;
  • Monitor budgets, expense reports, or other financial data for fundraising;
  • Design or produce materials such as posters, Web sites, or newsletters to promote, market, or advertise fundraising events this includes appeal letters and annual reports;
  • Serve on the leadership team and on the Development Committee;
  • Maintain compliance with State, Federal and local laws concerning fundraising and communication;
  • Follow Association of Fundraising Professionals ethical guidelines;
  • Adhere to The Iris Network policies and procedures;
  • Other duties as assigned.
