Job Description

The Iris Network is a Maine non-profit dedicated to helping people with vision impairments gain and maintain independence as well as community integration.

Pay: $55,000-60,000 per year

The Development and Communications Manager will organize fundraising activities, record and report on donor transactions (gifts), and help cultivate and steward donations from existing and potential donor pool. This person will work collaboratively within a development team, reconciling monthly with accounting, and work with staff, vendors, donors, and the public – to raise awareness of the agency’s work, to increase referrals for services, and help set and meet development and communication goals.

Job Duties:

  • Assist in and/or potentially lead major department activities such as donor relations, grant writing, event coordination, website and social media posting, creation of communication copy and images, etc.;
  • Act as Major Gifts Officer (or support) to cultivate larger gifts from Major Donors;
  • Utilize donor database (DonorPerfect)to maintain, update, and report on donor activity;
  • Participate in annual fund strategy and implementation including solicitation (direct mail and online) of donors with support of fundraising counsel, vendor and sponsors;
  • Establish and maintain relationships with current and potential donors;
  • Secure and record donations from individuals, businesses or corporate sponsors;
  • Coordinate annual events securing sponsorships, creating signage and postings as well as recruiting participants and volunteers;
  • Help solicit, record, and report on cash (checks), on-line donations (credit cards), in-kind donations, and sponsorships, as needed;
  • Collaborate with Development Team on fundraising activities/plans that maximize participation/contributions to the agency, while minimizing costs;
  • Continuously develop new, or revisit pre-existing strategies to encourage contributions;
  • Monitor progress of fundraising campaigns;
  • Maintain and solicit new corporate fundraising programs;
  • Maintain compliance with State, Federal and local laws concerning fundraising and communication;
  • Follow Association of Fundraising Professionals ethical guidelines;
  • Actively participate in agency meetings;
  • Adhere to all The Iris Network policies and procedures;
  • Other duties as assigned
