The position will report to the Senior Director, Global Charging Success & Energy Services, Model e, who reports to the Model e Chief Operating Officer.

This role is open to candidates who are remote/hybrid.

The Position

The Director, Charging Business Operations & Strategy, Model e will be responsible and accountable for overall Business Operations and Strategy in the Charging and Energy Services space. You will partner alongside the Customer Experience, Product, and Engineering teams to achieve the overall Model e financial, business, and customer experience objectives. In this role you will provide the strategic leadership, vendor management, and execution expertise to set Ford apart as the industry leader in Charging and Energy Services offerings.

What you’ll be able to do

+ Lead the business operations team directly responsible for developing the strategy and implementing solutions to significantly improve public and private charging reliability and access

+ Drive vendor performance improvements through creation of robust contracts and SLAs, holding vendors accountable and driving continued advancements and customer confidence in Ford’s Blue Oval Charge Network

+ Own strategic direction and creation of compelling Energy Services products (Intelligent Back-up Power and bi-directional power offerings). Accelerate speed to market in partnership with the customer experience team with a focus on continuous improvement.

+ Act as the primary Business Operations interface with key partners across Model e and the broader Ford organization (Product Development, Engineering, GDIA, Finance, Comms, Customer Experience, Integrated Services, Ford Pro) to deliver Charging and Energy Services products and initiatives

+ Drive continuous process improvement, standardization, simplification, and data/reporting enhancements focused on achieving Model e Charging and Energy Services business objectives.

+ Act as the Business lead and collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver both strategic and financial planning initiatives (e.g., Partnership and JV opportunities, Business Plans, and Budgeting/Forecasting Plans).

Functional & Technical Knowledge

The minimum requirements we seek

+ Bachelor’s degree in Corporate Strategy, Engineering, Business Operations, Sustainability, or related field.

+ 5+ years automotive experience with strong comprehension of the automotive business, electric vehicle charging, fluency in product/software, the utility landscape, and experience designing customer solutions in the energy or sustainability space

+ Ability to build relationships and a team culture of trust, accountability, and speed both inside and outside of the Model e business.

+ Knowledge of the EV ecosystem. Existing external relationships and network preferred.

+ Experience leading cross functional teams of technical and non-technical resources – a strong leader of people and businesses.

+ A passion for the battery electric vehicle segment and customer experience

+ Ability to lead in an agile environment

Preferred Requirements:

+ Advanced Degree: MBA, Business Analytics, Finance, or related field.

+ Demonstrated collaboration skills and ability to build trust with peers and across teams. Experience in a matrixed organization.

+ Analytical problem-solver with the ability to synthesize large amounts of data to drive effective and efficient executive decision-making and own the end-to-end recommendation process.

+ Ability to communicate complex concepts and plans to a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders to evangelize and influence strategy to executive leadership.

+ Track record of challenging the status quo to drive forward a strategic agenda; able to influence and see around a corner.

+ History of navigating ambiguity, establishing goals and crafting a plan in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.

+ Demonstrated ability to build and lead high performing teams; s/he has built a followership over his/her career and knows how to elevate the standard of his/her teams.

+ Ability to make data-driven decisions through rapid iteration, pilots in market, and learning through feedback from real customers.
