The Jackson Laboratory (JAX) Facilities Engineering & Capital Projects Department has a number of exciting design and construction projects planned for summer 2024. These projects vary in size and complexity and include science laboratory renovations, office renovations, new buildings, and other projects. With the busy summer ahead, the department is seeking candidates for a Summer Intern position. Duties for this position include, but are not limited to the following: Project assistance for a variety of civil/architectural/mechanical/electrical projects, supporting project managers to gather existing site conditions information, assist with meeting minutes and meeting organization, gather materials and create standards for various topics TBD. Most projects for summer 2024 will be architectural based. Potential assistance for the JAX construction superintendents including documentation of observed conditions and assistance with testing and evaluations. Research projects and documentation, filing and general administrative efforts. Other duties will include smaller projects as assigned. Qualifications: Candidate must have completed their sophomore year in one of the following majors: architecture, construction management, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, civil engineering, structural engineering, or similar. Prior work experience may be substituted. Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills required. Basic computer graphic skills desired. Must be reliable, responsible, organized, and professional. Ability to work independently on routine work as well as on assigned special projects required. Must be available to work 40 hours weekly between the hours of 7:30am and 4:00pm, Mon- Fri. Experience reading blueprints and using AutoCAD or Revit preferred. Availability to work early in the morning, evenings and/or weekends on occasion is preferred. Preferred dates of work are from mid-May through mid-August. Dates are flexible for the right candidate. This position will be funded for 12-14 weeks.
