at Cianbro in Millinocket, Maine, United States
We are actively looking for a seasonal cook for a remote set of private camps located on Rainbow Lake, Maine, T2-R11 starting in the summer 2024 season. The property is a historic set of sporting camps that is now used to provide corporate guests a memorable "Maine" experience.
The position of seasonal cook requires a diverse set of skills to fulfill the responsibilities required. This will include planning menus, cooking meals for guests, managing grocery orders and inventory of ingredients and kitchen staples, as well as maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen. Due to the remote setting, accurate inventory and effective planning are required to ensure guests needs are met.
The ideal candidate will be a motivated, self-starter who is comfortable living remotely, as the facility is not accessible by motor vehicle (all guests and crew are transported via floatplane). Prior experience and comfortability with additional tasks pertaining to the operation and basic maintenance of a Maine sporting camp including washing, drying, folding laundry, and assisting with cabin and lodge housekeeping are required. The candidate must also be willing to learn the operation of the "off-grid" electrical system at Rainbow Lake Lodge.
This seasonal job is unique in that it can offer high levels of solitude and seclusion between guest visits. Experience in this environment is highly recommended. The preferred candidate would possess relevant experience in cooking at a sporting camp, lodge, event center or similar venue. Applicants should be comfortable living and working in the outdoors, and have the ability to plan and organize multiple tasks. This role will require lifting up to 50lbs, crawling, climbing, hiking, swimming, and the ability to work independently as well as on a team. Excellent communication and customer service skills are required.
