L.L.Bean has an opportunity for a Safety Intern to be located in Freeport, ME for the Summer of 2024. Under the supervision of an experienced EHS professionals, the intern will undertake projects directed at specific topics such as equipment safety, industrial hygiene, occupational ergonomics, environmental compliance and training & education. They will also work closely with multiple teams ranging from production to engineering to provide EHS support for day-to-day operations, conduct safety walkthroughs, deliver safety trainings to employees, participate in analyses of workplace incidents and help with driving corrective actions.
The successful candidate will assist in maintaining the corporate value of Safe and Healthy Living of our employees and stakeholders. The intern will have the ability to work across all operational divisions including Retail, Manufacturing, Order Fulfillment, and Facilities operations. After successfully completing the internship, the intern will depart with an understanding of our safety culture here at L.L.Bean as well as valuable, real-world EHS skills that can be applied they continue forward in their career path.
Key Responsibilities of the Safety Intern:
+ Contributing to environmental, health, and safety projects, including:
+ Ergonomic assessments
+ Participation in job task Risk Assessments
+ Participation in Incident Investigations
+ Area and personal dosimetry surveys
+ Indoor air quality assessments
+ Assisting with development of safety training
+ Job Hazard Analyses
+ PPE assessments
+ Safety trend analyses using our EHS software (CorityOne)
+ Pre-use and change analysis review of new equipment/processes
+ Assisting with review of our Corporate Safety Policies and Procedures.
+ Participation in routine safety inspections
+ Utilizing support and guidance of the EHS specialists to ensure results achieved directly benefit the organization as well as personal development.
+ Analytical and organizational skills
+ Able to work independently and manage multiple tasks
+ Interpersonal communication and collaborative teamwork
+ Effective oral and written communication skills
+ Proficiency in Excel, and other Microsoft applications is preferred
