Job Description

Purpose

The lead engineer will have a central role in developing tranmission construction and design standards for the company's electrical overhead and underground lines. Will be required to write engineering specifications for electrical equipment, create material specifications for various items (concrete products, poles, transformers, cables, etc) and develop a strong technical knowledge base to serve as a technical advisor (SME) for electric equipment such as cables, conductors, structures, switchgear, etc. The engineer will lead teams/projects that solve complex transmission equipment/design problems taking a broad perspective to idnetify innovative solutions. ABle to work independently with only administrative and general direction from supervision with guidance on only the most complex tasks.

Responsibilities

Perform detailed, complex engineering analysis, designs and calculations using standardmethodology & principles & other viable approaches. Develop alternative methods or design concepts to resolve problems or to improove processess/services. Solve unique standards engineering problems, utilitizes a board prospective to identify innovative solutions (forensic, analysis, material evaluations & applications and construction standards. Preparare, maintain & understand drawings (schematics, one-line diagrams), develop and specify equipment, assemble documents & other requirements for assignments of complex level of difficulty using in depth expertise in own discipline. Serve as a SME for tranmission equipment (cable, transformers, reclosers, switches, ploes, fues and concrete products) and anticipate internal/external business issues and recoomend process improvements. Participate in industry association, acts as a faciliator, mentor & review work for others. Lead engineering teams to complete assigned tasks and projects, assist in guiding and mentoring engineers in standard engineering methodology and lead other s in resolving complex decision in non-standard situations & develop solutions. Posses an in depth of knowledge and interprets processes and standards related to electrical equipment. Make recommendations for improvement and put forth best practicies where appropriate. Develop business cases & manage project/processes/initiatives or teams in accordance with applicable ccompany guidelines.

Skills and Requirements

Bachelors degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or related discipline from an ABT accredited college/university. 7 years experience performing engineering duties. Specialized advanced training is also required or graduate level engineering dregree. A professional engineer's licesnse is desirable, but not required. Working knowledge of CAD, SAP, PLS CAD, CYME Model, high/ low voltage cables, ovedrhead cables and conductors.
