  • Competitive Skills Scholarship Program (CSSP)
    The primary goal of CSSP is to provide eligible individuals with access to postsecondary education, training for industry-recognized credentials, and support that lead to skilled, well-compensated jobs with anticipated high employment demand. CSSP provides support to adults who have not previously earned a post-secondary degree with a family income lower than 200 percent of the federal poverty level.

    Permits U.S. employers to hire foreign workers on a temporary or permanent basis to fill jobs essential to the U.S. economy.

  • Maine Apprenticeship Program
    Apprenticeship is a proven training method that helps employers obtain and maintain, skilled, dedicated workers. Employers offer a “learn while you earn” opportunity for their apprenticeship workforce.

  • Maine JobLink
    Job seekers can search for jobs online, post a resume, and get matched with employers. Employers can post job opportunities at no charge, review profiles of interested applicants and manage job listings 24/7.

  • National Farmworker Program
    Economically disadvantaged individuals who have worked on a farm in the past 2 years may be eligible to receive job training assistance and support services to obtain stable, year-round employment in high growth, high wage occupations. Eastern Maine Development Corporation (EMDC), a non-profit organization, operates the NFJP statewide.

  • Rapid Response
    Provides information on Unemployment Insurance, CareerCenter Services and Health Insurance Options to assist workers facing job loss due to downsizing or closures. When an employer must lay off workers, there are several steps to take in order to address the needs of the affected workers and the community.

  • Reemployment Services: Worker Profiling ReEmployment Services
    The Bureau of Employment Services and BUC work collaboratively to ensure that Maine's WPRS program is beneficial by assisting unemployed workers with returning to work and effective in reducing the overall length of unemployment. WPRS will provide targeted claimants with relevant reemployment services and Eligibility Review Interviews to help minimize the length of unemployment.

  • Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA)
    Workers who lose their jobs or have their hours or wages reduced because of foreign trade may be eligible for training, job search, relocation, health insurance premiums, and if over 50, wage subsidies. A petition can be filed by the company, three workers, a union official or the state Department of Labor on line at www.etareports.doleta.gov/petition

    The CareerCenter offers specialized employment and training services for Veterans. If you served in the U.S. Armed Forces a CareerCenter Representative can help you find a job, get new skills, or access other state or federal resources available to Veterans. CareerCenter Veterans' Representatives are also available to meet with eligible veterans.

    A federal tax credit that offers an incentive for private sector businesses to hire individuals from 8 targeted groups that have consistently faced significant barriers to employment.

    The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) provides employment, training, education, and vocational rehabilitation services to Adults, Dislocated Workers and Youth through the CareerCenter system.
