The position requires a strong grounding in three-dimensional studio processes and the ability to engage students through teaching methods that align with material process, value an iterative approach to studio practice, and provide a foundation in perceptual, formal, and critical skills.

The teaching load for this position is two courses per semester. Successful candidates will be able to articulate the significance of the visual arts within the liberal arts curriculum and have a desire to contribute to the life of a small, collaborative department.

We especially encourage people from underrepresented groups to apply.

Bowdoin College accepts only electronic submissions. Applicants should submit a single PDF file no larger than 4.5 MB that includes the following: a cover letter, curriculum vitae (limit of three pages), ten images of their creative work (with captions), the URL for a website displaying their creative work, and the names and contact information for three references who have agreed to provide a recommendation on request. In your cover letter, please address 1) how your teaching would support our commitment to diversity and inclusion and 2) how you view the role of Visual Arts in a liberal arts education.

Review of Applications will begin January 15, 2021 and continue until the position is filled.
