ON Semiconductor’s Manufacturing site in South Portland, Maine is seeking an experienced Yield & Defect Engineer who will join a team of process, device and equipment engineers working in a dynamic and challenging semiconductor manufacturing environment. This position’s focus will be to improve defect density and quality on CMOS, BiCMOS, and BCDMOS processes.
By working cross-functionally with unit process modules and other members of South Portland’s engineering team, the hired individual will be able to ensure that the site’s tool and process-based defectivity is driven down to exceed fab defect density reduction goals. These goals will be exceeded through development, deployment, and continuous evaluation of current processes.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to:
+ Work cross-functionally with multidisciplinary teams to drive defect density and quality improvements
+ Develop defect reduction initiatives and action plans
+ Deploy monitoring strategies to optimize defect control procedures, including detection and cycle time
+ Support defect analysis, evaluation, and reporting
+ Drive deployment and qualification of dark field and bright field tools
+ Manage installation, training, and integration of inspection tool and software upgrades
+ Mentor and train defect technicians
The Must Haves:
+ 3-5 years’ experience in semiconductor defect reduction field
+ Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering/Chemistry, Physics, or related discipline
+ A successful track record of being self-motivated and driven to complete projects in an individual and team environment
What Will Put you Ahead:
+ Experience with AIT1, ComPlus 3T, Tencor 7×00, August NSX95/100, G2 SEM, KLA2139 tools
+ Experience working with Klarity defect database and analysis software
+ Experience in semiconductor fab processing
+ Six-sigma training (black or green belt), and/or lean manufacturing certification
+ Exceptional communication and interaction skills with ability to influence and lead cross-functional initiatives
+ Strong organizational skills
+ Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and react to shifting priorities to meet business needs, deadlines and commitments
