Part-time Faculty – THE Sound Design – Spring 2021

Statement of Job:
The Department at the University of Southern Maine invites applications for a Part-Time Faculty position in Sound Design. The applicant will be required to teach one section of THE 337: Sound Design. The course will run from January 25, 2021 to April 30, 2021.
Teaching one section of THE 337 Sound Design for the USM Department of Theatre in the Spring 2021 semester includes lecture and practicum in the art and techniques of sound design. The class examines the creation of audio for a production environment, with emphasis on industry-standard recording techniques and communication tools, script and environmental analysis, and equipment and delivery systems.

Part time faculty members are paid on a credit hour basis based on prior college teaching experience. In addition, USM employees have access to the library, Cigna Employee Assistance Plan, and fitness center (s) with their USM Card. USM also offers Part time faculty the opportunity for development frequently through our Center for Collaboration and Development (CCD), the chance to get an online teaching certification and training through CTEL, in addition to other developmental opportunities open to all staff throughout the year.
Bachelor’s Degree and demonstrated experience designing for theatrical and theatrical media including radio plays and podcasts. Professional sound design experience.
