As a member of Acadia Insurance Company’s senior and executive management team, the role provides strategic leadership necessary for the successful achievement of the company’s business objectives and its mission.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
+ Creates accurate and dependable financial reporting for the organization which adequately reflects the financial condition of the company.
+ Requires a strategic vision beyond accounting and finance.
+ Provides analytical review of monthly financial results.
+ Has a highly analytic view of all company functions and a bias towards action.
+ Plans and directs all aspects of Acadia’s financial policies, objectives and initiatives.
+ Works collaboratively with WRBC corporate and other WRBC affiliates to create and maintain evolving shared financial systems.
+ Strong working knowledge of financial systems and data warehouse functionality.
+ Maintains compliance with all regulatory statutes, laws and regulations, including but not limited to state regulation, SOX and other SEC reporting requirements. Collaborates on the long-range planning and forecasting of the company to maximize company performance over time.
+ Contributes to Acadia’s success by developing departmental and individual staff goals; measuring results, rewarding achievements or taking corrective action, as necessary.
+ Develops employees through coaching, training, providing ongoing and constructive feedback, and through regular performance and salary reviews.
+ Retains staff by managing responsibly and creating a positive work environment.
+ Keeps abreast of industry developments, particularly those which impact his or her area(s) of responsibility.
+ Understands Acadia’s business and the factors that affect its success.
+ Communicates regularly and effectively with staff, both as a team and individually.
+ Responsible for multiple departments, requiring a strategic vision beyond just accounting.
+ Ensures that the company’s assets are used in a manner approved by management of the company.
Manages subordinate supervisors who supervise employees in the Finance, Field Services and Audit Departments. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Also directly supervises non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; or more than 15 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
