Scope of Position:

In this role, you will be responsible for promoting a safe and healthy work environment for all Corning manufacturing plant employees, visitors and contractors. We will look for you to provide semi-professional technical and administrative support to the EHS Manager.

This position requires foundational proficiency in the fields of:

• Environmental: Encompasses processes and infrastructure for the supply of water, disposal of waste, control of pollution, and compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.

• Health & Safety: Encompasses health and safety management systems and compliance with health and safety regulatory agency requirements, company requirements and facility requirements.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

+ Responsible for incident management tracking and reporting within multiple digital tracking systems (including close calls, incidents/accidents, OSHA log, and worker’s compensation)

+ Educate and oversee employee training on health and safety procedures and regulations

+ Ensure the company is prepared to submit all relevant health, safety and environmental documents, reports, licenses, and certificates to auditors, internal stakeholders, or legal bodies as needed.

+ Encourage and promote the use of safer work equipment, materials and supplies in all areas of the plant.

+ Monitor exposure to certain hazardous chemicals; complete hazard identification and risk assessments (including machine risk assessments).

+ Assist in pandemic planning activities and related safe work practice initiatives.

+ Keep abreast of industry and market trends and best practices – update policies and practices accordingly.

+ Ensure adherence to all relevant legal rules and regulations.

Travel Requirements:

+ Less than 5% of the time.

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

+ Your typical work schedule will be 8-5 PM; Monday – Friday.

+ May need flexibility for off shift and weekend coverage to support project assignments.

Required Education:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering or related field of study.

+ Will consider Associate’s degree with 1+ years of EH&S experience.

Required Skills:

+ Knowledge of OSHA/EPA and other relevant regulations and standards.

+ Ability to learn new digital systems and platforms (i.e. GENSUITE, EtQ, etc.)

+ Timely record maintenance and excellent attention to detail.

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Powerpoint and Excel.

+ Effective management of competing priorities based on risk.

+ Ability to work on standard tasks and deliver high quality results with limited supervision.

+ Excellent problem-solving skills (DMAIC, DESGN)

Desired Experience / Qualifications / Skills:

+ Prior working experience within a manufacturing environment or research and development (R&D) environment.

Soft Skills:

+ Excellent communication skills, written and verbal

+ Excellent presentation skills

+ Ability to handle ambiguity.

+ Positive teammate who is customer-focused, open and approachable to effectively collaborate in teams within a multi-cultural environment and across all levels of our organization.

+ Able to positively influence others (suppliers, managers, production associates, commercial partners etc.)

+ Self-starter with the technical curiosity to learn new things and bring forth new ideas.
