The USM Department of Engineering seeks applicants for the position of part-time instructor to teach courses in all areas of engineering, including but not limited to the following:

  • In general engineering, the areas of Introduction to Engineering, Introduction to Programming, Differential Equations and Linear Algebra, Engineering Ethics and Economics, and Materials Science.
  • In electrical and computer engineering, the areas of Circuits Theory, Electronics, Electric Machinery and Controls, Analog and Digital Signals, Communications and Electromagnetics, Digital Logic and Microprocessors, Computer Architecture and Organization, and Embedded Systems.
  • In mechanical engineering, the areas of Statics, Dynamics, Strength of Materials, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, Machine Design, and Vibrations.

Part-time faculty members are paid on a credit hour basis based on prior college teaching experience. Required: The successful applicants must have an earned baccalaureate degree in engineering, computer science or a related discipline, and demonstrate experience in the subject matter of the course(s) to be taught.

Preferred: Preference will be given to applicants with teaching experience and/or advanced degrees in those areas.
