Job Description

WEX Inc. seeks a Database Administrator 3 to work in South Portland, Maine. The Database Administrator 3 is responsible for designing, building, implementing, supporting and operationalizing WEX global business critical database systems. The duties of the Database Administrator 3 include planning computerized databases, including base definition, structure, documentation, long-range requirements, operational guidelines and protection; ensuring accuracy and completeness of data in master files and various support tools, such as base dictionaries; establishing and maintaining security and integrity controls; formulating and monitoring policies, procedures and standards relating to database management; using CommVault, RedGate Backup, and Idera SQLSafe & SQL Diagnostic Manager vendor tools to manage one-off backups and restoring, configuring and maintaining log shipping to ensure recoverability; Using SQL Profiler, Extended Events, and the Query Store to improve performance; using built-in SQL Server DMV’s (Dynamic Management Views) to determine poorly performing queries and suggesting resolution that will improve the performance and reliability of the system; working with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into information technology solutions; assisting a team of peers to build robust, reliable and effective database management solutions for all lines of business; providing technical direction and database expertise for complex data repository challenges; and building and maintaining documentation. The minimum requirements for the position are a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Science, or a related field; 3 years of related experience; and the following proficiencies/skills: Powershell scripting; Microsoft SQL Server database management experience, Related SQL Server software experience (Idera SQLDM, RedGate Backup, Commvault, Profiler, Performance tuning, SQL Server plan interpretation, high availability architectures, and SSRS reporting and analysis).
