Job Description

Temporary, seasonal farm work positions from 9/11/20 to 10/23/20. Combination of tasks related to the pruning, weeding, harvesting, and grading of apples, cranberries, and pumpkins. Worker will lift approximately 50 pounds while on a ladder up to 16 feet tall. This job is best suited to fast/careful individuals. Wages will be paid on piece rate as follows: some apple harvest will be conducted on harvest assist equipment, this will be paid at the same rate as picking apples without ladders or picking drop; normal harvest using ladders and from the ground are at a higher rate; picking apples from the tops of trees only with ladders will be at the highest rate. Job includes general farm labor such as picking rocks, clearing brush and sometimes includes use of tools. Assurances include 3/4 guarantee and free housing for those who are not able to return home at the end of the work day in a reasonable commuting distance. Employer has a productivity standard and will provide .5 day of training and/or allow 2.5 days of work for worker to reach production standards. Production standards will increase from 50% to 75% to 100% by third day. Quality standards must be met. *After completion of training or break-in period, employer will expect worker to: a- For Apple harvest 8 bushels/hour with no more than 5% bruising or below 50% color.
