Job Description

Position Summary:

The primary responsibility for the Scheduler is providing scheduling support to the nursing department to help with maintaining, coordinating, and planning staffing. This role also entails maintaining personnel files, tracking licenses/certifications, and supporting the hiring process. Performs duties in compliance with Bolster Residential Care philosophies.

Essential Duties:

+ Assures that nursing staff scheduling is complete and that adequate coverage is available on a daily basis. Check units daily for adequate coverage.

+ Completion of the nursing department staff schedule for 24 hour coverage of nursing personnel (both licensed and non-licensed). Filling in vacant position with per-diem staff as necessary.

+ Posts completed nursing staff schedule in accordance with facility policy. Also posts staffing numbers, all shifts, on the bulletin board daily.

+ Works with the charge nurse to assure that staffing is appropriate according to facility census.

+ Posts daily staffing sheets at each nurse’s station. Post daily staff assignments.

+ Assures the tracking of staff absences is accurate and complete.

+ Responsible for replacement of staff who calls out from work, in accordance with established policies and procedures.

+ Assures the tracking of staff absences is accurate and complete.

+ Manages overtime.

+ Sets up interviews, work with HR through hiring process, and completes interviews.

+ Maintains complete confidentiality of all Nursing administration records, personnel information, and resident medical records.

+ Assures the tracking and assignment of employee performance evaluations are accurate and complete.

+ Customer Service: Interacts with all individuals in a consistent manner, providing attention, support, and assistance to foster an environment of exceptional personal service.

+ Provides direct care coverage as needed.

+ Maintains confidentiality of information at all times.

+ Maintains a safe work environment and performs duties of the position in a manner consistent with ensuring the safety of self and others.

+ Performs job duties in a manner that maximizes expense control.

+ Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

+ High school diploma or equivalent

+ Valid Maine personal care support certification and/or C.N.A preferred

+ Minimum of two years of work experience in directly communicating and providing service to

patient’s or public; preferably in a healthcare related field

+ Basic computer knowledge

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability

+ Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills.

+ Ability to perform multiple tasks or activities simultaneously, provide quality patient service,

prioritize and use critical thinking.

+ Effectively communicate with team members and patients in a supportive and tactful manner.

+ Ability to remain calm in a busy or stressful situation.

+ Represent the organization in a positive manner, support and encourages strong morale within the

team and maintain effective, professional relationships with others.

+ Must be able to maintain and file personal records and medical records in accordance with established

policies/ procedures.
