The Jackson Laboratory seeks a Scientist, Monoclonal Antibody Services to work in Bar Harbor, Maine. The Scientist, Monoclonal Antibody Services The JAX Monoclonal Antibody (MAB) service core is a high-throughput automated tissue culture and screening Method Monoclonal Antibody (MAB) facility. The JAX MAB service core produces a series of MAB affinity reagents that bind to target molecules in order to identify, track, capture, or influence specific molecular activity. The Scientist, Monoclonal Antibody Services manages and oversees the JAX MAB service core for research and reagent development.
Responsibilities include leading the development, screening, maintenance, production, characterization and quality assurance/quality control operations, including associated mouse colony and cell culture functions; overseeing automation, capital infrastructure, facilities, and associated data and material management strategies for JAX MAB service core; establishing priorities and directly participating in the conduct of MAB affinity reagent development, validation and improvement; collaborating with JAX research faculty and JAX external research partners in the application and extension of MAB/affinity reagent technologies; and development of R&D strategies to advance, extend and maintain technical currency of the JAX MAB service core. The primary duties of the Scientist, Monoclonal Antibody services include oversight of JAX MAB service core operations providing custom MAB generation and related services, including all administrative responsibilities associated with managing the MAB core operation; directing the purchase, implementation, and validation of equipment necessary to automate high-throughput methods to produce MABs and oversight of systems to achieve optimization of equipment to achieve JAX MAB service core operational goals; R&D to improve the generation of MAB affinity reagents beyond current state-of-the-art capitalizing on JAX research resources, investigating best existing strains for developing MABs, and generating genetically modified strains with the JAX Gene Editing Technology (GET) group to further improve technology; and generating a catalogue of MAB affinity reagents, utilizing novel humanized mice for development of therapeutic and/or diagnostic MABs, and accessing the JAX repository of gene targeted KO strains to develop MABs against highly conserved or non-immunogenic mouse proteins.
The minimum requirements are a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology, Immunology, or a related field and 3 years of professional work experience in the field of Monoclonal Antibody (Mab) Generation in microarray preparation and printing, microarray scanning and analysis, running automating liquid handling platforms, and gaining microarray expertise with liquid handling with classical hybridoma monoclonal antibody technology.
RATE OF PAY: Between $63,250 and $80,250/year.
