Sodexo is seeking an Outpatient Dietitian for Central Maine Medical CenterBariatric Programin Lewiston, ME . This Registered Dietitian will provide specialized medical nutrition therapy to the adult population throughout the patient’s entire surgical weight management process. The RD plays an integral role in determining the patient’s readiness for surgical weight loss. Newer RD’s interested in the outpatient counseling field are welcome to apply.

The successful candidate will:

+ Empower clients to achieve life changing goals who are currently experiencing obesity and/or diabetes;

+ Provide individualized and group education to clients through evidence-based nutrition care in the specialized area of bariatrics;

+ Be proficient with the use of motivational interviewing;

+ Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to recommend, implement, and monitor nutrition interventions with overall improvement in clinical outcomes;

+ Be familiar with insurance coverage related to bariatric nutritional consultation;

+ Allow for flexibility in their schedule to provide occasional evening appointments, as needed;

+ Travel to nearby surgical centers to provide client counseling (travel reimbursement provided);

+ Participate in quality improvement projects within the department.

+ Registered Dietitian credentials with a strong interest in the bariatrics/weight management field;

+ Licensure in the state of Maine is required;

+ Have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with clients and interdisciplinary team members at all levels;

+ Have the proven ability to effectively engage, motivate and influence others regarding their nutrition;

+ Have strong presentation skills;

+ Have a commitment to continued education in the nutrition field and implementation of new and innovative ideas.

Position Summary

Responsible for providing direct basic nutrition services

Key Duties

-Provides nutrition care to population served to ensure needs and customer satisfaction levels are met.

-Maintains and develops client relationships and client satisfaction to ensure account retention.

-Manages, promotes, and educates others on food and nutrition programs according to Sodexo standards and policy.

-Collaborates and communicates with culinary and clinical departments on established processes, special diets, and menu requests and probes potential problems and apprises manager of status on resolution of problems or issues, using appropriate Sodexo resource when necessary.

-Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as well as Sodexo/client policies and procedures (e.g. Health Dept., HIPAA/Privacy Act, Joint Commission, quality assurance, safety, operations, and personnel) by keep abreast of the most recent nutrition-related trends, research, policy, certifications, and standards of practice.

-Follows operating standards, implements quality improvements and communicates them to other departments..

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement – Bachelor’s Degree

Basic Functional Experience – Meets eligibility requirements for certification as a Registered Dietitian
