The Computer Science department at the University of Southern Maine () invites applicants for a Lecturer position. We are seeking highly motivated individuals committed to teaching Computer Science. This position is a full time renewable, non-tenure track position with responsibilities in teaching and service. We welcome applicants in all areas of specialization, but especially encourage candidates with expertise or interest in Machine Learning, Distributed Systems, or Software Engineering or industry experience to apply. Information science has been identified as a key area for growth in Maine’s economy by the government and the university is investing in resources to produce more graduates. Department expansion will permit the resumption of the MS in Computer Science degree, the addition of an MS in Data Science degree, and collaborations on other degrees.
The successful candidate will join a department and institution that care deeply about student academic success and the development of faculty to be effective teachers. The department meets annually to discuss teaching effectiveness and student learning and mentors junior faculty on practices. The university provides a variety of programs and financial support for faculty to improve their pedagogical skills. The position has no specific scholarship requirement, but an individual is welcome to conduct research and involve students in research activities. The university provides incentives and assistance for scholarly endeavors.
