Primary Responsibilities

HDR is seeking a strong Resources Business Group Manager to lead our growing New England practice. The Resources Business Group provides broad engineering, consulting, planning and environmental services to a strong client base in New England and is part of our practice which includes offices in Portland, ME, Manchester, NH, Boston, MA, and Glastonbury, CT.

Through the professional staff the Resources Business group at HDR provides expert consulting services in power, hydropower engineering and sciences, environmental sciences, and planning and engineering services to the power, renewables, offshore wind, waste, industrial and oil and gas market sectors. This position is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to grow the business and continue to diversify the client base.

Responsibilities also include leading strategic client and project pursuits, managing projects, providing technical services, staff administration, liaising with marketing support services, overseeing quality of deliverables, and supervising and mentoring staff. The business group manager prepares annual revenue forecasts and budgets, monitors performance of the business group, and sells and wins projects that match the expertise and developmental goals of the staff. This position works cooperatively with the Area Manager, Regional Resources Business Group Manager and National Directors and coordinates services with other business lines in the company.

Position can be located in either the HDR office in Portland or Boston.

Required Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Environmental Sciences or related Engineering degree.
  • 15 years’ experience which must include strong leadership experience in providing environmental solutions and regulatory expertise to complex projects in the New England Area.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead client teams in the New England/Northeast Area.
  • Demonstrated experience with leading diverse teams
  • Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values
  • Actively engaged in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR technical expertise and brand
  • Ability to work cooperatively with regional and local office managers, other area business group directors, technical directors and marketing managers
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
