Job Description

As a registrar for the Access Management Department your primary
responsibility will be to register patients for upcoming appointments
throughout the hospital and provider offices. You will greet patients
that present either in person or over the phone/video phones. You are to
properly identify each patient without creating duplicate MRN’s or
selecting the incorrect patient. You are to complete all the required
information within the registration to ensure an accurate record for
billing. You are to ask patients if they are interested insigning up for
the Patient Portal. You are to verify all insurances through our
current eligibility software tool and make the necessary corrections to
the account before completing the registration. You are to inform
patients of their co-pay amount and seek to collect payment at the time
of registration. Documentation is extremely important and must be
entered on all accounts in the encounter level comment field.* *

Education Required:

Associates degree or other technical college education or equivalent in
work experience and continuing education is recommended. Completion of
medical terminology also preferred.

Experience Required:

1-2 years’ work experience with personal computers and customer service
required. 1-2 years ina medical setting preferred.

Other Skills Required:

Verbal and written aptitude for adequate communication with the general
public, physicians, physician office staff, registration staff, and
other healthcare professionals. Must demonstrate the ability to work
well with others and towork independently without direct supervision.
Must exhibit a caring attitude toward patients, co-workers, and other
customers. Ability to handle multiple priorities successfully. Position
requires close attention to detail. Must present in a professional
manner.

Physical Requirements:

This position entails extensive customer service and phone utilization,
visual and auditory acuity, finger-wrist repetitive motion,and
utilization of a computer/keyboard for 6 plus hours a day.

Working Environment:

Seated for long periods of time, standing and walking.Considerable
amount of work on the telephone and/or video phones. Primary work
location is either in an off-site office environment or on-site with
some direct public contact. High noise level due to multiple phones and
conversations.
