Job Description

The Accountant I is responsible for the processing and reconciliation of various general ledger accounts and supports the work of Accounting and Finance Operations staff as needed.

Job Description
Key Outcomes:

Responsible for the preparation and posting of journal entries to the general ledger.
Responsible for the reconciliation of various balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
Responsible for the reconciliation of various general ledger accounts on a daily basis.
Responsible for analysis of various income statement accounts.
Assists Accounting Team with the timely and accurate filing of various regulatory reports required by the Bureau of Insurance, Internal Revenue Service, National Association of Insurance Commissioners, Department of Defense, CMS, and other regulators.
Seek opportunities for improvements in accounting processes.
Evaluate and update assigned accounting procedures.
Cross train and rotate responsibilities for all accounting cycles.
Perform special projects or other duties as needed.

A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting / Finance / Business Administration or equivalent combination of relevant education and accounting experience.
Demonstrated experience using MS Excel at an advanced level (complex formulae, Pivot Tables, etc.) is preferred.
Experience with accounting software / ERP systems is preferred.
Experience with General Ledger postings is preferred.
