Food & Nutrition Cafeteria Shift Lead Responsibilities:

+ Have the ability to perform all duties of Food Service Employees based on the area they are performing lead roles in. The lead is also expected to cover Associate tasks as directed by need in addition to their own outlined workflow.

+ Assist supervisor in the scheduling of staff.

+ Lead the shift in the absence of the Supervisor and insure that all tasks are complete before they leave for the day.

+ Hold start of shift huddles at the beginning of each shift to keep everyone engaged and on the same page.

+ Provide input on staff appraisals throughout the year.

+ Work the outlined lead routine on the floor and check in with staff periodically throughout the shift and provides support as needed.

+ Provide feedback both positive and constructive throughout the shift. If something is in violation of MGH or Food & Nutrition policy leads need to address with the staff and inform their supervisor. Leads are not expected to discipline staff as that is the responsibility of the supervisor.

+ Perform post shift cleaning inspections in order to insure staff are meeting our expectations of cleanliness. The Lead provides feedback to the staff who completed the cleaning assignment for that shift/work routine.

+ Train new staff and evaluate their task completion throughout the training process to insure we have proper documentation of the staff member’s ability and knowledge of MGH Food & Nutrition Policies and Procedures.

+ Be flexible and willing to change scheduled hours as dictated by the needs of the department.

The ideal candidate will have:

+ Ability to produce fresh, quality healthy food products safely and in accordance of the Maine Food Code

+ Ability to communicate effectively among coworkers and leadership

+ Strong high -volume batch cooking skill

+ Ability to read and comprehend elaborate instructions, correspondence and written memos

+ Servsafe within 6 months of hire
