Our Animal Care operations in Bar Harbor and Ellsworth, Maine are currently undergoing a massive expansion! NOW is an excellent time to join us!

Effective February 15, 2019:

  • Receive a $2500 relocation bonus in your first pay check and be eligible to receive a one-time spot bonus in the amount of $3,000 paid after the completion of one year of employment if you remain employed in Animal Care/Operations and are an active employee in good standing if moving from over 50 miles away to work at our Bar Harbor or Ellsworth locations (Maine only).
  • Receive excellent pay – $15 per hour starting pay and $15.75 per hour upon completion of initial training!
  • Receive regularly scheduled pay increases with the ability to increase your pay 25% in 2 years!

Responsibilities

Successful team members will undergo a 12-week paid training program, which includes classroom and on-the-job training to learn all aspects of animal husbandry and includes laboratory animal science and genetics. Employees will learn to maintain animals to monitor animal health and welfare, maintain a sanitary environment and prepare animals for shipping. Animal Care is part of the production team at JAX and work requires attention to detail, working in a highly controlled clean room environment, fast paced that provides continuous physical movement.

The work schedule is Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with some weekend and holiday work required.

Successful candidates will clear a pre-employment physical and background check.

We also offer commuter buses for easy transportation to JAX from various locations including Bangor, Brewer, Holden, Ellsworth, Milbridge, and Franklin!
Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalency as well as prior successful work experience is required for all candidates
  • Lifting 25lbs on a regular basis
  • Walking up a ladder
  • Work well in a fast paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail
