Job Description

What We’re Looking For

Provides a significant breadth and depth of technical experience in a specific discipline and/or type of project work to analyze and evaluate complex design problems efficiently and provide viable solutions within established schedule and budget. Provides technical interface with clients and coordinates technical efforts within his/her design areas. Coordinates and directs use of professional and technical staff assigned in the preparation of project documents.

The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for the following:

+ Providing highway, roadway, mulit-use trail, and complete streets design efforts with minimal direction.

+ Coordinating the preparation of design details, plans, and drawings within assigned task areas.

+ Development of project design criteria, design calculations, construction details, quantities and cost estimates.

+ Investigative hand and computer based analyses in support of assigned design tasks.

+ Preparation and checking of design drawings and/or specifications.

+ Review and checking of engineering work completed by others.

+ Providing construction phase engineering support as required.

An ideal candidate is someone who can:

+ Complete designs with direction from experienced engineers and project managers

+ Complete work accurately and in accordance with good engineering codes and practice

+ Effectively communicate and coordinate with other more experienced engineers

+ Multi-task and communicate schedule and progress on assigned tasks

+ Be energetic, self-directed, and success focused

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

+ Maine PE (or ability to obtain within six months)

+ Proficiency in MicroStation and InRoads

+ Maine Turnpike, MaineDOT, NHDOT and/or VTrans Highway design experience

What You’ll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

+ Provides design solutions within budget and time schedules.

+ Technical interface with clients; coordinates technical effort with his/her design areas.

+ Leads staff in preparation of project documents.

+ Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

+ 10 years relevant experience
