The Fort Kent Police Department is seeking a qualified, motivated, and community-oriented individual for the position of Police Officer. The position offers a comprehensive benefits package including competitive wages, wage step increases, employee and family medical health coverage, paid vacation and sick leave, ME PERS retirement.
Requirements and Qualifications: Applicants must be certified as a full-time police officer by the Maine Criminal Justice Academy or have successfully completed Phase I and Phase II of The Law Enforcement Pre-Service Training Program. Applicants must be able to successfully complete medical, psychological and polygraph examinations, pass an extensive background investigation and may need to meet the Maine Criminal Justice Academy Physical Fitness Standard.
Benefits: The Fort Kent Police Department offers a competitive wage and benefits package and excellent retirement options. AS OF JULY 1, 2019 FORT KENT POLICE DEPARTMENT WILL PARTICIPATE IN MAINE STATE RETIREMENT SYSTEM PLAN.
Wages: Rate of pay will be $20.12 up to $23.27 plus night shift differential and educational stipend. A lateral entry at the Police Chief’s discretion is available based upon training and experience.
Individuals with honorable military experience, an Associate’s Degree or greater or certified Maine Criminal Justice Academy graduates with current police certification are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates who are certified law enforcement officers (blue pin) or those who have successfully completed all phases of the Maine Law Enforcement Pre-Service Training Program (green pin).
A SIGN ON BONUS OF $2500 FOR MCJA GRADUATES WILL BE OFFERED WHICH WILL BE PRORATED OVER 2 YEARS.
