Role of the Home Based Senior Lead Teacher:
The Home Based Senior Lead Teacher is responsible for working with the Program Director in guiding children toward the fulfillment of their potential for cognitive, social and emotional growth and maturation. This position will provide oversight to this program, which will include supervision of the home-based therapists.
Minimum of a Bachelors degree, in special education, early childhood or a related field
Minimum of an Ed Tech III certificate
Conditional or full 282 certification, full 282 certification preferred
Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) certification
Minimum of two years’ experience and the desire to work with children with special needs
Must be an American Citizen or maintain legal alien status
Must have a valid driver’s license and vehicle. Driving to/from families homes will be necessary
Responsibilities of the Home Based Senior Lead Teacher:
Attend and participate in IEP/IFSP meetings to provide support to the Home-Based Therapists as a special education consultant
Responsible for the overall implementation of home-based services in the absence of the Home-Based Therapist
Demonstrate knowledge of ESDM, ABA principles, and CDS Birth-5 guidelines
Assist Home Based Therapists in the development of developmentally appropriate programming for each child’s individual goals and objectives
Complete necessary quarterly documentation as indicated by Department of Education as well as Maine Care guidelines
Meet weekly for individual supervision of Home Based Therapists
Independently conduct assessments and support the writing of educational plans for children enrolled in the program, with input and suggestions for modification, as appropriate, from the Clinician, and the Program Director
Provide direct care to children based upon individual education plan (IEP), individual family support plan (IFSP) and/or individual treatment plan (ITP)
Assist the Program Director and/or Clinician(s) in providing hands-on training for newly hired Home-Based Therapists, as well as on-going training for all home-based staff
