The ideal candidate is fully competent to complete engineering-related tasks including research, development, calculations, design and delivery with minimal direction. On tasks basis, is responsible for preparation and completion of discipline engineering efforts that are responsive to project needs. Coordinates preparation of design details, plans, and drawings within assigned task areas.
The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for the following:
+ Providing structural analysis and design of highway and/or railroad bridges and other transportation related structures and providing complete design efforts with minimal direction.
+ Coordinating the preparation of design details, plans, and drawings within assigned task areas.
+ Development of project design criteria, design calculations, construction details, quantities and cost estimates.
+ Investigative hand and computer based analyses in support of assigned design tasks.
+ Preparation and checking of design drawings and/or specifications.
+ Review and checking of engineering work completed by others.
+ Providing construction phase engineering support as required.
An ideal candidate is someone who can:
+ Complete designs with direction from experienced engineers and project managers
+ Complete work accurately and in accordance with good engineering codes and practice
+ Effectively communicate and coordinate with other more experienced engineers
+ Multi-task and communicate schedule and progress on assigned tasks
+ Be energetic, self-directed, and success focused
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
+ Master’s degree in Engineering
+ Maine PE (or ability to obtain within six months)
+ Proficiency in MicroStation
+ Experience with design software such as MDX, CONSPAN, Mathcad, L-Pile, RC-Pier, CSiBridge
+ Maine Turnpike, MaineDOT, NHDOT and/or VTrans Bridge design experience
What You’ll Need
+ Responsible for completion of discipline engineering project elements such as reports, designs, specifications and plans.
+ Responsible for coordination and productivity of subordinates. Provides technical guidance to less experienced engineers.
+ Works closely with other disciplines and multi-discipline projects.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
+ 5 years relevant experience
