OnCourse Maine, a program of Care & Comfort’s Behavioral Health division, has an opening for a Daily Living Support Worker (DLS) to work with veterans living with severe and persistent mental illness. These employees work with them to improve their life skills, and to make appropriate choices according to their needs and established treatment plans.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
+ Working with consumers on developing and implementing independent living skills in their homes and the community.
+ Assisting consumers in determining goals and interests.
+ Communicating with the internal team on the consumer’s progress, and making recommendations towards achieving treatment plan goals.
+ Supporting consumers in actively making progress towards achieving their goals/interests.
+ Encouraging and promoting consumer independence in their homes and in their community.
+ Documenting daily events and completing necessary paperwork.
+ Using motivational interviewing, recovery and trauma-informed approaches when delivering consumer services.
+ For CRMA Certified:
+ Administering consumer non-injectable medications in a safe, proper, and accurate manner.
+ Following documentation procedures and reporting medication errors.
+ Obtaining regular supervision by an RN.
Prior experience working with behavioral health issues is required. MHRT certificate or CRMA certificate preferred. Candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent. All applicants must have a valid Driver’s License, current Auto Liability Insurance, and reliable transportation.

+ Ability to work independently as well as being an integral part of a team.
+ Flexibility in working hours based on situation.
+ Strong interpersonal skills.
+ Ability to speak with and relate to veterans who have persistent mental health issues.
+ Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and knowledge of HIPPA compliance.
+ Working knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
+ Understanding of entry into databases and look-up capabilities.
+ Bilingual applicants welcome. Must be able to read, write, understand, and otherwise communicate in English to effectively interact and coordinate with the employer, co-workers, and clients.
