UMA’s Nursing Program invites applications for a full-time, academic-year, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Nursing. UMA has a holistic RN-BSN program which has AHNCC endorsement and is admitting students to the pre-licensure option concept-based curriculum which emphasizes caring science in fall 2019. We seek candidates who demonstrate expertise in evidence-based best practices in teaching nursing, a passion for nursing and teaching, a commitment to supporting diversity and student success, and a desire to join and collaborate with program faculty to implement these practices.
Our teaching facilities include a state-of-the-art simulation center on the Augusta campus and smart classrooms. Responsibilities include: Teaching didactic and clinical courses in the BSN pre-licensure and RN-BSN program options in both traditional classrooms and online; conducting scholarly activities in field of expertise; advising students academically; and participating in service to the department, college, and university, including curriculum development and assessment, professional development, and committee assignments. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2020.

+ Current licensure as a RN in the State of Maine, or eligibility for Maine licensure.
+ A Master of Science degree in Nursing and the Ph.D. or other doctoral degree in nursing or closely related field at the time of appointment.
+ Three or more years of teaching at the college level.
+ Clinical practice within the past five years in area of expertise.
+ The ability to teach effectively at both the pre-licensure and RN BSN level, as needed.
+ Teaching duties for tenure-track faculty is four courses per semester.
+ Experience with curriculum development and evaluation.
+ Teaching that includes the use of new technologies and delivery systems; experience teaching students at a distance.
+ National certification as an Advanced Holistic Nurse (AHNCC), or willing to seek certification.
+ Teaching experience with a concept based curriculum with emphasis on caring science.
+ Experience in teaching in simulation and online environments.
+ ACEN accreditation experience is highly preferred.
