  1. Description

Goodwill Industries of Northern New England is searching for an experienced Custodian II to perform custodial duties at contracted cleaning sites. This position requires working evening shifts from 5:00pm – 9:00pm.

Job Summary:A brief, general statement of the more important functions and responsibilities of the job

1) Provides general cleaning of assigned facilities in accordance with Agency and/or contract specifications.

  • Maintains equipment/supplies.
  • Maintains cleanliness of assigned areas such as restrooms, offices, floors/carpets and hallways; using proper cleaning agents,standard custodial practices and operating high and low speed scrubbers and carpet extractors.
  • Fills soap dispensers, refills paper towel racks and distributes toilet paper and other supplies as necessary.
  • Communicates with supervisor regularly.

2) Represents the Agency in all interactions with other members of the Goodwill community and with the general public, supporting the agency Vision of creating sustainable communities that thrive through the fullest participation of their diverse residents.

3) Furthers the organizational commitment to triple bottom line results: integrating social, economic and environmental goals into thinking, planning and actions

Essential Functions:

Communication:Functions that pertain to various forms of interacting and collaborating with others.

  • Maintains communication with supervisor on a consistent basis, keeping them informed of areas of improvement.
  • Provides superior customer service though polite and professional interaction with site host and coworkeers.

Knowledge:Functions that pertain to learning and maintaining levels of information necessary for success.

  • Maintains equipment/supplies.
  • Maintains a high standard of personal appearance.
  • Maintains floors and carpets by operating high and low speed scrubbers and carpet extractors.
  • Maintains security of the building by being able to secure/lock the facility and set the alarm.

Administration:Functions that pertain to daily activities of running a business

  • Maintains cleanliness of assigned areas such as restrooms, offices, floors/carpets and hallways; using proper cleaning agents,standard custodial practices and operating high and low speed scrubbers and carpet extractors.
  • Fills soap dispensers, refills paper towel racks and distributes toilet paper and other supplies as necessary.
  • Recycles paper, aluminum cans, cardboard and other recyclable materials at assigned site(s), where applicable
  • Where applicable, maintains outside areas including sweeping, maintaining lawns; picks up debris from the grounds and performs snow removal
  • Participates in team activities and special projects as needed.

Requirements:

  • Ability to provide routine maintenance and cleaning
  • Ability to work independently and to follow directions with limited supervision
  • Ability to engage in physical activity including standing, walking, descending stairs
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Valid Maine, New Hampshire, or Vermont Driver’s License that meets agency standards with proof of active auto insurance
  • Criminal background check that meets Agency standards
