Position Summary :

This role specializes in the design and development of automated container platforms, deployment pipelines, and cloud-ready application architectures. The Sirius Consulting team is looking for a Container Infrastructure Engineer to join our consulting operations or Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and DevOps practice. In this role, you will learn to design and guide implementations of cloud-ready applications and deployment pipelines on large-scale container platform clusters using Java, Node.js, Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible by Red Hat, and OpenShift by Red Hat. Ability to learn new technology quickly is essential to this role.

This is a remote position with regular (sometimes weekly) travel to client sites and can be located anywhere in the U.S. within close proximity to an airport.

After joining Sirius, you will go through an intensive training program on Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift technologies and related DevOps topics. Here’s how your skill set will evolve and what you’ll learn during your first year in the role:

*At 2 months, be prepared to join a project team by acquiring the following:

+ Understanding of how to build production-ready container platforms, integrated with existing enterprise systems

+ Knowledge of how to deploy source code into running, scalable containers in automated fashion at enterprise scale

+ Practical experience with our offerings

*Within 6 months, be ready to implement a routine container platform project by attaining the following:

+ Successful, collaborative delivery of customer requirements using OpenShift by Red Hat

+ Knowledge of how a customer use case can be developed into a project plan and how those requirements align with Red Hat’s technologies

+ Understanding of how Red Hat’s technologies can transform software delivery (DevOps) practices at large organizations

*Within 12 months, demonstrate technical leadership in container platforms by accomplishing the following:

+ Successfully implementing complex, large-scale container platform solutions in challenging customer environments

+ Helping other consultants learn DevOps and container technologies and processes

+ Contributing lessons learned, best practices, and how-tos to our internal and external communities of practice

+ Applying new technologies, frameworks, or methodologies to container platforms

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

+ Perform a variety of billable IT consulting activities in support of client’s objectives, which may include, but are not limited to:

+ Software Development

+ Application Administration and Configuration

+ Application Integration

+ Data engineering

+ Software Quality Assurance

+ DevOps engineering

+ Information Security assessments (HIPAA, PCI, ISO 27001, others)

+ Implement automated, containerized cloud application platform solutions, with a focus on infrastructure concerns including networking, storage, virtualization, security, logging, monitoring, and high availability and system resilience

+ Learn new technologies quickly, including container orchestration, container registries, container build strategies, cloud storage, and software-defined networks

+ Documents completed technical work for clients

+ Maintains technical specifications throughout a project

+ Contribute and develop best practices, strategies, methodologies and documentation/templates suitable for use by other consultants and analysts

+ Achieve high level of Customer Satisfaction on all consulting engagements by executing to achieve client project expectations set by technical leads and project managers

+ Develop strong customer relationships and trust to secure future business

+ Reviews and understands all assigned Statement of Work (SOW) obligations prior to services delivery

+ Mentor less senior personnel and serve as escalation point for their technical related project issues

+ As needed, steps into team leadership roles and empowers others to increase contribution and level of responsibility

+ Engages in professional development to maintain continued growth in professional skills and knowledge

+ Administrative Overhead – Respond to email, phone calls, complete time cards in a timely manner, expense reports and status reports as required

Basic Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field

+ At least five (5) years’ IT work experience, such as consulting, operations, help desk, service desk, development, DevOps, and/or Cloud, to include:

+ At least three (3) years of experience with Linux system administration

+ At least two (2) years of platform scripting experience with the Ruby, Python, or Go languages

Other Required Qualifications:

+ Demonstrated presentation and communication skills

+ Demonstrated experience working with customers to clarify needs and requirements and to build a solution vision

+ Experience as a member of a technical project team, from design through delivery

+ Experience making technical decisions regarding assigned tasks when presented with options by other team members

+ Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and identify potential problems and making appropriate changes

+ Demonstrated ability to create technical documentation

+ Demonstrated experience working as a member of a team to collectively arrive at an architectural solution

+ Demonstrated ability to manage time and assignments effectively, including when participating in multiple assignments at a time

+ Demonstrated interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Prior development and deployment experience with containerized applications

+ System administration experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or a derivative

+ Proficiency in Java, Node.js, Python, Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible and/or OpenShift

+ Experience with CI/CD pipelines

+ Proficiency using cloud platforms like AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud

+ Two (2) or more years’ consulting experience

+ Vendor solution certifications

The position exists to provide technical consulting solutions to customers and as such requires the ability to travel to and from customer sites and interact with customers on an ongoing and regular basis.
