SUMMARY: Provide exemplary customer service while ringing up customer purchases and accepting various forms of payments for purchase of merchandise.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Greet customers entering the store, answer questions and provide information on merchandise, procedures or policies.
Ring up customer purchases accurately on cash register and accept payment for purchases by cash, check, credit card, traveler’s checks, credit card or automatic debit cards and provide receipt(s) to customer; bag and/or wrap purchases.
Request product information or pricing using appropriate paging methods; and check pricing “codes” on applicable merchandise.
Offer customers carry out assistance if needed.
Following company procedures when accepting various forms of payment:Checks – follow company requirements for personal checks Cash – verify cash payment and count back cash/change to customer Credit/Debit Cards – verify cash register tape matches credit/debit card slip. Gift Cards – follow company procedures; redeem (deactivate) gift card for balances under $5.00.
Count money in cash drawer at the beginning of shift to verify base draw amount is correct and that there is adequate change.
Follow company cash-up procedures and maintain clean and orderly checkout areas.
Open, unpack and price merchandise, stock shelves and assist with signage as directed.
Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
